Rogue Works grew out of Bocadalupa’s desire to provide themselves and other Bristol performers across a wide discipline an opportunity to take creative risks and gain valuable feedback for new work or new creative direction. It was inspired by “Twelve Minutes Max”, of On the Boards Theatre in Seattle, USA. Bocadalupa produced Rogue Works three times in Bristol since 2000. First, in the Bristol Old Vic basement, second as part of the first Mayfest at the Bristol New Vic studio (and entitled Bite Nite because if was a slight variation on form…) and later at the Tobacco Factory. Our Arts Council assesment reported that this activity was much needed in Bristol but would be best served if produced by organisations or institutions who were in a better position to support the work in an ongoing way. Since, a flurry of activity has emerged in Bristol including Prototype at the Tobacco Factory and Ferment at Bristol Old Vic. Artists for Rogue Works were chosen to represent a range of activity within Bristol’s professional performing arts community and included Clive Andrews, Alyson Sarah Hallett and Fiona Hamilton, Janis Claxton and Cinzia Sperou Gloekler, Aggelika Spetseri, Brenda Waite, Tom Marshman, Brink of Distinction, Peter Reynolds, Dan Danson, Full Beam Visual Theatre, Frasier Hooper, Rob Mitchell, Wayne Middlemist and Darren Hoskins, The Special Guests and a bear.
